There’s a lot going on throughout Morgan County. “Our Board of Directors usually meets every-other month,” notes Joy Sessing, Executive Director of the Morgan County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC). “Recently we’ve beenconvening monthly.” She also observed. “As a two-person team, regular office hours aren’t working out in a practical way right now. It’s best to email or call to schedule a meeting with us to make sure we will be in the office.”

It’s best to email orcall to schedule a meeting with us to make sure we will be in the office.”Jeff Pipkin, Deputy Director of the MCEDC, concurs. “Ican’t recall any time in my years here (Pipkin came aboard inDecember 2001) that we’ve had so many exciting opportunitiesto spur economic growth. We’ve also stepped up our visibilityand have been more successful in getting people to talk witheach other.”According to Pipkin, the MCEDC started out as a MooresvilleEconomic Development Commission in 1988, andmorphed into a county-wide organization in 2003. “We pluginto projects that fit our overall plan of action, which is, to improvethe economic climate of the area with a priority to encouragecurrent businesses to stay and expand, while makingour county a more attractive option to new business,” said Sessing.
